Hi - I am Tricia and I am the face behind Wristocracy.
Now here's the little bit where I share a bit about me for those who are interested in knowing more about the face behind Wristocracy and how this all started.….
Wristocracy was born out of my hobby many years ago. I always enjoyed making things and bracelets was no exception. I strung them for myself and close friends. Initially I would buy 'off the shelf bracelets', cut them up and rearrange the mix to my preference - adding in bought beads from the local bead shop when needed. Probably a bit weird I know - but it always was something I enjoyed! I would also resize bracelets to fit different friends' wrist sizes as they were outside the range of "average" sizes available at shops - something that always irked me. After all we all deserve to be able to find beautiful things that fit don’t you think?
Eventually word spread and then friends of friends and then strangers began to admire my handiwork and ask whether I would consider making bracelets for them and eventually… I decided why not? And that is how Wristocracy was born.
Well that was over 10 years ago now and during that time I have made literally thousands of bracelets and my fair share of mistakes. In turn, I have also learned a lot.
I began selling my wares at some Auckland markets starting with the boutique Crafternoon Tea markets but soon expanding to include amongst others the legendary Coatsville Market and General Collective.
My collection of stones grew with every market and each sale I made and now my selection is vast and not limited to what you see on my website. It got to the point where it was just too large for me to transport from place to place. My customers loved the choice and the ability to find their perfect fit. I certainly didn’t want to compromise that. So whilst I earned my stripes in the markets, I made the decision to move online.
My website features my ready made range that has expanded to include necklaces and earrings. However I also specialise in bringing to life unique bespoke beaded pieces working with my customers to create their vision. Only a fraction of these custom makes are shown on my website. I really love what I do and as such try my very best to make you something special. In all cases I pride myself on using high quality gemstone beads to create special beaded bracelets and jewellery.
I take my work pretty seriously and always take the time to measure each bead and hand pick each gemstone, so it sits just perfectly. It takes time and I am very selective of the stones I use and have in many cases sought out the beads in person rather than relying solely on trusted online suppliers. This ensures the quality is always up to scratch. I am also honest and will tell you if something falls outside the scope of what you might expect.
I love what I do and feel very privileged to be able to do it and want your experience of working with me to be enjoyable and seamless. Don’t expect me to try and sell you something you don’t need or want - I am not fond of the hard sell technique.
The market place of jewellery sellers is crowded and I am so aware of that, so a huge thank you to all of you who have supported me over the years. Please know I do not take you for granted and I am thrilled to have many of you still here!
My original goal with Wristocracy was to make quality beaded bracelets with a difference. I hope I have done that and more. I am not a big advertiser or inclined to post too much on social media. I prefer instead for word to travel organically and rely for the most part on my customers to share their Wristocracy experience with their friends and family. Perhaps in this day and age that may seem strange, but my goal is not to have everyone’s business but to capture the eye and heart of those who share a love of quality and beauty and who want something made mindfully, here in New Zealand, that can be worn for years to come.
Thank you for reading this far ….
