A candid confession …

It’s been a while and I thought I should just bite the bullet and make mention of my absence on social media and the blog and share a little bit more about Wristocracy and what drives it (me) …. and more importantly what doesn’t.

The reality of Wristocracy is that it is made up of just me, myself and I and when things happen to me it affects Wristocracy in a big way.

There is no back up … just me that makes, promotes and sends out everything. A small business like mine is not glamorous - just hard work and lots of perseverance.

The past few months I have elected not to promote Wristocracy on social media as I normally would for a few reasons.

Firstly, I have had a very bad flu that lingered and lingered. The reality is I just wasn’t up to much. The usual two weeks of flu turned into several more and then recovery time on top of that meaning that whilst I was still operational I chose not promote Wristocracy as such.

Secondly, I am not tone deaf to the reality of a recession affecting household spending and disposable income. I understand and appreciate that jewellery purchases are not top of mind nor a priority when some people are struggling right now. Whilst I remain open for business it didn’t feel right to advertise endlessly when people are doing it hard.

Thirdly, a moral dilemma that I personally am having with social media. Its increasingly questionable content and even more questionable owners have made me take a pause whilst I consider what sits right with me. Anything I can do to not line the pockets of people and corporations whose actions I find abhorrent, is something that helps me sleep at night. I imagine many of my customers may share the same feeling. It really is a curly one for me…

I have always relied on word of mouth and social media as the principal methods to promote my business and given that I struggle with the use of these platforms now. I am at a crossroads. Conversely I also don’t want to bombard your email accounts with promotional content (I’m sure you have enough) nor do I want to attend regular events anymore as this part of my life has moved on.

Another proverbial “spanner” has been the tariffs, that have made shipping to the US needlessly expensive and complicated. I am sorry to my US customers that it is no long a standard option on my website to ship stateside - but rest assured you can certainly contact me for a special listing with the added postage and tariffs added in if you wish.

By the way - the same is true for other countries not listed as shipping options on my website - I am happy to look into it - just message me.

What you may not realise about Wristocracy is that it is and always has been a labour of love, with all earnings going back into the business. This is why the product range is wide and why expensive events and expensive advertising are not really an option for me.

So with all this being said, where to from here?

Well, my website is up and running and I am open for business as usual - but, if you see and hear a little less from me …you now know why, whilst I ponder the future of my little business.

As always I wish you well and hope this blog finds you happy, healthy and well!

I appreciate you all and the support you have given me over the years.

Thanks … Tricia
